Inter Milan Star Training Separately Ahead Of Switzerland Vs Italy Euro 2024 Showdown

Inter Milan Star Training Separately Ahead Of Switzerland Vs Italy Euro 2024 Showdown

Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco is training on his own as Italy prepare to take on Switzerland on Saturday evening.

The two neighbors will collide tomorrow in Berlin in what will be the opening act of the Euro 2024 Round of 16.

However, it seems that Luciano Spalletti and his staff are still sweating over Dimarco’s availability.

The 26-year-old has thus far started on the left flank in all of the Azzurri’s fixtures in the tournament. This includes the last group-stage clash against Croatia, even though he was carrying a knock.

The former Parma and Hellas Verona man is apparently still suffering from a physical knock, leaving his availability uncertain.

According to Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews, Dimarco trained separately on Friday, and his condition will be evaluated in the next few hours.

Spalletti will be hoping to have the Inter star at his disposal tomorrow, as he remains his ultimate first-choice at left-back. The manager’s other choices for the role could be his Nerazzurri teammate Matteo Darmian or Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso.

On a separate note, there are more reassuring updates regarding Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni.

The 25-year-old had a fever over the past few days. But as the source notes, the Atalanta youth product has recovered and made his return to group training.

Like Dimarco, Bastoni has been a stalwart for the Azzurri since the start of the tournament.

The Nerazzurri defender’s return is a major boost for Spalletti, especially as he’ll have to do without the suspended Riccardo Calafiori.

The big showdown between Switzerland and Italy kicks off tomorrow at 18:00 CET.
