Inter Milan Sporting Director Confirms: ‘Oaktree Capital Have Given Us A Sign’ Of Continuity

Inter Milan Sporting Director Piero Ausilio feels that owners Oaktree Capital have shown clear commitment to sporting continuity.

The Nerazzurri executive spoke to Radio TV Serie A, via FCInterNews. He also talked about the signings of Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski on free transfers this summer.

Oaktree have now been Inter owners for more than a month.

The current owners took over from Suning in mid-May. This followed the former owners’ failure to pay back a loan that they had taken on from the US fund in 2021.

And it was at the start of last month that Oaktree put their executive structure in place at Inter.

Naturally, with new owners at the club, there would be doubts regarding the continuity of the sporting project.

However, Oaktree have made it clear that they will continue to put their trust in the directors who had been architects of the team under Suning.

This includes Beppe Marotta, who Oaktree named as the new Inter President in addition to still being CEO.

And it also includes longtime Inter Sporting Director Ausilio.

Ausilio: “Oaktree Have Given A Sign” Of Continuity At Inter

As far as Inter continuing in the same direction under Oaktree, Ausilio said that “That’s the sign that they gave us.”

“Our project is a winning one,” the Nerazzurri Sporting Director continued.

“We try to improve ourselves every summer.”

“We don’t want to think about what has been,” Ausilio said. “But also what must be.”

He said that “Winning the second star was fantastic. But my mind is already on August 16th, the start of next season.”

Of coach Simone Inzaghi, Ausilio said that “When we brought him in, he was a young coach who had talent.”

“We’d already glimpsed some of his qualities.”

“Furthermore,” the Inter executive explained, “we wanted continuity in the style of play from what Conte had brought.”

“The negotiations to bring him here were quick and easy,” Ausilio said of Inzaghi.

“He’s grown a lot. And now he’s a top coach.”

And Ausilio also gave his thoughts on the arrivals of Piotr ZIelinski and Mehdi Taremi. They are joining Inter on free transfers from Napoli and Porto respectively.

“The team was already complete,” said the Inter Sporting Director.

“And then we were able to take advantage of these two opportunities.”

“They’re two players with experience, personality, and quality,” Ausilio said. “I’m convinced that they’ll bring that extra something that we need.”
