Inter Milan Reach Three Key Objectives In 3-2 Serie A Win Vs Udinese
Inter Milan reached three key objectives in their triumph over Udinese in a 3-2 Serie A thriller yesterday evening.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that Inter bounced back from losing the derby, got Lautaro Martinez back to scoring, and proved that they can win without Nicolo Barella.
Inter headed to the Bluenergy Stadium yesterday with some notable question marks.
The biggest was the fact that the Nerazzurri had lost their first match of the season last weekend.
Moreover, the fact that that defeat came in the derby against AC Milan was certainly significant. Inter were outfought and outthought by their city rivals, snapping a six-match winning run in the fixture.
Meanwhile, Inter were also dealing with the fact that captain Martinez had started the season in poor form.
A lack of fitness has been evident in the Argentine’s displays. He had yet to score a goal heading into yesterday’s match.
And then there was the fact that Inter had lost more than just the match in the derby last Sunday.
The Nerazzurri also lost midfielder Nicolo Barella. The Italian international picked up a thigh strain against Milan, which should rule him out until the international break.
Inter Answer Three Key Questions With Serie A Win Vs Udinese
None of that prevented Inter from getting back to winning ways yesterday, however.
The Nerazzurri took three points with a fairly convincing performance.
The two goals that Inter conceded were a worry.
But Udinese scored from their only two good chances of the match, in truth. And Inter, on the other hand, had chances to score more.
Captain Martinez was the hero on the day.
The skipper scored either side of halftime, which will certainly be a positive omen going forward.
And then it was actually the replacement for Barella in the lineup, Davide Frattesi, who scored Inter’s opener.
The Nerazzurri had to deal with some adversity to get the three points. But they got there in the end.
