Inter Milan President Underlines Club Philosophy: ‘Success, But With Sustainability – Ambition Without Arrogance’

Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta says the Nerazzurri are seeking “success with sustainability.”

Speaking at the club’s Christmas party, via FCInterNews, Marotta underlined Inter’s club philosophy. He stressed the importance of “ambition without arrogance.”

In recent years, the trophies have returned to Inter.

The Nerazzurri won the Serie A title last season. That was their second in the space of four years, after more than a decade without a league title.

Meanwhile, Inter have won the Coppa Italia twice and the Supercoppa Italiana three times with Simone Inzaghi as coach.

There have also been two European finals. In 2020 Inter played in the Europa League final, while in 2023 they reached the final of the Champions League.

Inter President Beppe Marotta Stresses “Success, But With Sustainability”

Inter have not overextended themselves financially to get to their current position, however.

On the contrary. It has been a period of discipline – and even sacrifices – for the Nerazzurri.

Inter have made a number of big money sales in order to cover losses, as they have navigated the shockwaves from a financial crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Inter have sold the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi, and Andre Onana for big fees, among others.

And the Nerazzurri have rarely spent big to replace these players.

Rather, Inter have had to show imagination in the transfer market. But with Beppe Marotta at the helm, they have risen to the task.

Free transfer and bargain signings have aided Inter immensely in recent seasons. Marotta has solidified his reputation as the master of such deals.

That led to owners Oaktree Capital making the veteran former Juventus and Sampdoria executive the President of Inter in May of this year.

Marotta declared that “We have to pursue success, but with respect to sustainability.”

“But at the same time, we have to be ambitious,” the Inter President said.

“Without arrogance, and saying that we’re the best.”

“This year we want to be able to give ourselves even greater things to be happy about,” Marotta said.
