Inter Milan & Napoli Coaches Gearing Up For Long Battle For Serie A Title – First Direct Clash Before International Break

Simone Inzaghi and Antonio Conte are gearing up for a long battle for the Serie A title between Inter Milan and Napoli.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

It would be premature to say that Inter and Napoli are the only two candidates for the Serie A title.

Atalanta have been in blazing form after an inconsistent start to the season.

Then there are the likes of Juventus, Lazio, and even Fiorentina who are just a few points behind in the table.

And even AC Milan could recover in the title race. Particularly considering their game in hand against Bologna.

But it is Napoli and Inter who occupy the top two spots in the Serie A table as things stand.

Simone Inzaghi & Antonio Conte Gearing Up For Long Serie A Title Fight

Inter and Napoli will meet on the tenth of this month, in the last Serie A match before the international break.

It will be a fitting way for the league to sign off for the break.

As has often been the case in the last few season, the meeting between the Nerazzurri and the Partenopei already has the feel of a potential title-decider.

But the reality is that no matter the result of that direct clash, it will just be the beginning.

There are months to go. And neither Inter coach Simone Inzaghi nor his Napoli counterpart Antonio Conte will expect anything less than a gruelling slog that goes right into the final weeks of the campaign.

Conte has won the Serie A title before, with both Juventus and Inter.

And Inzaghi joined the former Chelsea coach in that respect by guiding the Nerazzurri to the title last season.

That title triumph had a lot of importance for Inzaghi. Ever since he took over at Inter, there have been persistent doubts about whether he could sustain a team at top form for long enough to win the title.

Inzaghi and Inter answered those questions very emphatically last campaign.

But Conte has returned to haunt Inzaghi. He is the coach whose shadow the 48-year-old first had to step out of when he took over at Inter.

And Conte will be determined to reassert himself by winning the Italian top flight title with a third different team.
