Inter Milan & Italy Star To Miss Serie A Clash Vs Udinese Due To Thigh Strain
Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella will miss next weekend’s Serie A match against Udinese after suffering a thigh strain.
The Nerazzurri officially confirm that the 27-year-old has suffered a strain to the rectus femoris muscle of his right thigh.
Midfielder Barella had started in the derby. However, he came off during the second half, with Piotr Zielinski replacing him.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s decision to substitute Barella meant that he had changed his entire midfield.
The coach had already removed Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu for Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani.
Therefore taking Barella off seemed a strange choice at the time, with the other two starters in the central trio having already left the pitch.
But after the match, Inzaghi explained that Barella had been dealing with a bit of a knock.
The 27-year-old related this to the Inter staff on the bench after the substitution.

The question was whether Barella had suffered an injury, or just a bit of fatigue.
Today’s training was decisive. Yesterday, Inter’s squad had the day off following the derby, but today the players returned to work.
The question was whether Barella would be able to shake off the problem he’d picked up in the derby.
However, the former Cagliari midfielder was unable to train.
Therefore, Barella underwent tests with Inter’s medical staff today.
And these tests confirmed that the 27-year-old had in fact suffered an injury.
Inter have confirmed that the tests showed a strain to the rectus femoris muscle of Barella’s right thigh.
The Italian international will undergo further tests next week.
But in the meantime, Barella should miss Inter’s next match. The Nerazzurri travel to Friuli to take on Udinese on Saturday afternoon.
And then Barella could also be a big doubt for Inter’s Champions League clash with Red Star Belgrade next week.
