Inter Milan & Italy Star Looks Back On Second Star: “My Greatest Joy, I Watched Inter From The Stands At Two Years Old”

Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco is still cherishing the club’s second-star achievement from last season. He describes it as the greatest joy of his playing career.

The 26-year-old is a lifelong Nerazzurri supporter who rose through the club’s youth ranks.

The Italian initially struggled to carve himself space at his beloved club. But after several loan spells, Simone Inzaghi opted to give the left-back a chance, and the latter made the most out of it.

Since then, Dimarco has established himself as a stalwart for both club and country.

Therefore, winning his maiden Serie A title was a special occasion for the Italy international who recalled how he used to attend the club’s matches at San Siro along with his family at the tender age of two.

“Winning the Second Star is an honor and an achievement that has helped us grow along the way,” said the wingback on the Matchday Programme ahead of tonight’s encounter against Atalanta (via FcInterNews).

“We believed in it right away, that’s where the group was built and by working hard we demonstrated our value and we reached our goal.

“The most useful advice I could give myself is to never give up, to keep going even in difficult moments.

“My grandfather and my uncle made me passionate about football. They used to take me to the stadium to watch Inter when I was two years old. From there I started to support this club and I fell in love with football.”

Dimarco insists winning the second star by beating AC Milan in the Derby was his most euphoric moment.

“My greatest joy was definitely on April 22, 2024, at the final whistle of the Derby.

“Winning the Scudetto like we did was incredible. We are very happy to have written this piece of Nerazzurri history.”

Dimarco discussed his special bond with Nicolo Barella who is also his biggest rival on the training ground.

“In training, I always challenge Barella. we’ve known each other since we were 14 and challenging each other has become a nice habit.

“I would have liked to challenge Samuel Eto’o, a player I’ve always admired.

“The biggest challenge I’ve faced? Wearing the Nerazzurri jersey for sure.”

The Inter star also looked back on the Champions League final against Manchester City which made the squad more aware of their abilities.

“The Champions League final was a beautiful match to play. I’m happy to have played it on par with Manchester City.

“It’s a game that has left a deep impression on us as a group because it made us understand the level of our team.

“This helped us achieve the Second Star in the following campaign. That’s why it means so much to me.”
