Inter Milan & Italy Star Growing More Complete – But Already Finding Ways To Be Decisive
Davide Frattesi is growing more complete as a midfielder, but also already finding ways to be decisive for Inter Milan.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They praise the 25-year-old’s contribution in recent matches.
Since the return from the October international break, Frattesi has been finding plenty of opportunities to play at Inter.
Since his arrival from Sassuolo in the summer of 2023, the question of Frattesi’s playing time has been a lingering one. He has not nailed down a place in the starting eleven.
But following an injury to Hakan Calhanoglu against Roma last month, Frattesi has been playing consistently for Inter.
The Italian international has therefore faced a big test. With Calhanoglu out and Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi reshuffling his midfield, Frattesi has had to prove that he can hold down his spot.
The former Sassuolo man has done so for Italy. Now it is his time at Inter.
Davide Frattesi Growing More Complete At Inter – But Still Finding Ways To Be Decisive
There are still limitations to Frattesi’s game. That was evident in his substitute appearance against Juventus in the Derby d’Italia.
The Italian international struggled to control the tempo of the match in possession as Juventus began to stretch the game and scored twice to cap off a wild 4-4 draw.
That is an aspect of Frattesi’s game that the player himself would be the first to admit is lacking.
But it is also something that the Italian international is working on.
The improvements are happening slowly. But with experience, and with teammates like Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to learn from, Frattesi is becoming more of a calming influence.
And in the meantime, Frattesi’s direct style and eye for goal have had plenty of impact for Inter.
The 25-year-old’s decisive brace against Empoli on Wednesday was an example of that.
