Inter Milan & Iran Megastar Delivers Verdict On Supercoppa Italiana Fiasco: “We Lost Control At 2-0”
Inter Milan star Mehdi Taremi offered his verdict on last weekend’s upsetting Supercoppa Italiana defeat.
During his latest interview with Fbtv3 via FCInterNews, the Iranian striker admitted the Nerazzurri shot themselves in the foot.
AC Milan overhauled a two-goal deficit to beat Simone Inzaghi’s charges 3-2 in the Riyadh showpiece last Monday.
Lautaro Martinez and Taremi fired the reigning Scudetto holders 2-0 up after only 47 minutes.
However, Inzaghi’s team let complacency get the better of them in the second half, resulting in a catastrophic loss.
In doing so, Inter wasted a golden chance to become the first side to win four consecutive Supercoppa titles.
But Taremi’s performance in Marcus Thuram’s absence was outstanding.
In addition to finding the net two minutes after the halftime interval, he set up El Toro for the opening goal.
Unfortunately, his heroics were in vain.

“The Italian Super Cup final was a great match for me, but at the final whistle, I was disappointed,” Taremi conceded.
“We could have won the game easily, but after our second goal, we lost control of the match. Anyway, that’s football.”
Inter immediately bounced back from a gut-wrenching result in the Middle East.
Indeed, Mateo Darmian’s early strike inspired the Nerazzurri to a narrow 1-0 win at Serie A newcomers Venezia last weekend.
Taremi was in the starting line-up but couldn’t find his first league goal this season.
Meanwhile, Thuram could dislodge the 32-year-old from Inzaghi’s best XI tomorrow when Bologna roll into town.
The Frenchman has regained full fitness and should partner up with Lautaro in the front third.
As for Taremi, he’s still struggling for consistency.
Regardless of who starts on Wednesday, Inter need three points to tighten the noose on pacesetters Napoli.
Inzaghi’s lads trail the Partenopei by four points but have two games in hand.
