Inter Milan Hope To Get Italy Star Back From Injury For Derby Vs AC Milan – No Chance For Man City Clash
Inter Milan are hoping to get wingback Federico Dimarco back for their Serie A clash with AC Milan, with no chance of being fit against Man City.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
On Sunday, Inter wingback Dimarco started in his team’s Serie A match away to Monza.
The 26-year-old in fact played the full ninety minutes of the match at the U-Power Arena.
This is relatively rare for Dimarco.
Typically, the Italian international is one of the players who Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi takes off as a substitute. The coach tends to change things up at wingback regularly.
However, Dimarco played from first to final whistle yesterday evening.
Meanwhile, Carlos Augusto started yesterday evening’s match on the left of the back three.
In the closing stages of Sunday’s match, Dimarco showed evident signs of fatigue.
The 26-year-old was clearly not fully comfortable as he ran.
However, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi had already made all five substitutions by the time this occurred.
Therefore, the coach could not take Dimarco off for another player.
Instead, the Italian international switched to centre-back. He changed positions with Carlos Augusto.
Inter Hope To Get Dimarco Back For AC Milan Clash – No Chance Vs Man City
Dimarco managed to see out Sunday’s match. However, it later turned out that the Italian international had suffered a muscle injury.
The Gazzetta report that the injury happened when Dimarco made a 50-metre spring to track Monza’s Alessandro Bianco.
And what’s clear is that there is no way that Dimarco will be fit for tomorrow’s Champions League opener against Manchester City.
The 26-year-old will not travel with the rest of his teammates for that match.
The question, then, is whether Dimarco will be able to play in the derby against AC Milan next weekend.
That remains up in the air at the moment. But Inter are hopeful of getting the wingback back.
