Inter Milan Defensive Trio Praised For Sturdy Performance At The Back In Serie A Win Vs Parma
Inter Milan defenders Yann Bisseck, Stefan de Vrij, and Alessandro Bastoni have won praise for their performance against Parma.
Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, credit the Nerazzurri back three for a sturdy, switched-on display.
Inter were not able to keep yet another clean sheet in Serie A yesterday evening.
A rather comedic late own goal from substitute Matteo Darmian while Inter were 3-0 up gave visiting Parma a consolation goal on the scoresheet.
That own goal was the result of a bit of sloppiness from the entire team. From Nicolo Barella’s giveaway in midfield to a sluggish reaction to the situation from de Vrij.
But when it mattered, Inter’s defensive trio really did its job.
Bisseck, De Vrij & Bastoni Hailed For Sturdy Display In Inter Win Vs Parma
On the right of the Inter back three, Tuttosport argue that Bisseck had a better second half than his first.
However, the German largely stuck to his task, particularly in the penalty area where he made some well-timed interventions.
On the left, meanwhile, Alessandro Bastoni struck the right balance.
Bastoni did roam forward on a few occasions, his trademark. And he played some decisive forward passes.
But it was mostly a more conservative display from Bastoni. He gave himself plenty of space to defend Parma’s danger man Dennis Man.
And at the heart of Inter’s back three, Stefan de Vrij did not put a foot wrong prior to Darmian’s own goal.
Gialloblu striker Ange-Yoan Bonny has caused problems for many Serie A centre-backs this season.
But Bonny had almost no impact on the match. This owed to a very composed, physically assured marking job by ex-Lazio veteran de Vrij.
