Inter Milan Corporate CEO On Future Of San Siro: ‘We’re Seeing If We Can Untangle The Situation’
Inter Milan Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello says the Nerazzurri are “still seeing if they can untangle” the future of San Siro.
Speaking to reporters, via FCInterNews, Antonello also made clear that Inter are still considering the Rozzano option. Their priority remains to construct a more modern stadium.
The future of the San Siro remains in limbo.
But that will not likely be the case for much longer.
Inter and AC Milan have had the plans of architectural firm WeBuild to renovate the iconic stadium in front of them for well over a month now.
This is part of a last-ditch attempt by Milan Mayor Beppe Sala to convince the two clubs to stay at the stadium.
In the last year and change Inter and Milan have been drifting away from the idea of staying.
The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have each pursued plans to build an entirely new stadium of their own. The former in the commune of Rozzano, the latter in the San Donato area.
This followed years of attempts to secure approval to demolish the San Siro and build a new stadium in its place, which came to nothing.
Inter Corporate CEO Antonello: “Seeing If We Can Untangle” Future Of San Siro
Inter and Milan’s objective has always been crystal clear.
The two clubs want a more modern stadium than the existing San Siro. They want a facility that can generate higher revenues, allowing them to keep up with top European rivals.
Sala and WeBuild hope that extensive changes to the San Siro could be enough to bring the iconic stadium up to the clubs’ expectations.
As of yet, Inter and Milan haven’t given a response to the plans. But they will do so very soon.
Of the future of the San Siro, Antonello said that “We’re seeing if we can untangle it.”
“And then at the same time, we’re also moving forward in Rozzano,” he made clear.
The Inter Corporate CEO stressed that “The important thing is pursuing our objective of a modern stadium.”
