Simone Inzaghi has two major decisions to make in defense for Inter Milan’s first match of the Serie A opener against Genoa.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, suggest that the places on both sides of the Nerazzurri back three are up for grabs.

Inzaghi is now just five days away from naming his first starting eleven of the Serie A season.

There are not all that many doubts in the coach’s mind as far as the lineup he’ll go with.

In attack, Inzaghi will turn to the trusted starting duo of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

And in midfield, it should be a similar story. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Nicolo Barella will line up from the opening whistle at the Marassi.

In defense, meanwhile, there is no doubt that Francesco Acerbi is the prime candidate to start in the centre of defense with Stefan de Vrij out injured.

As far as the two players playing alongside Acerbi, however, the jury is still out.

Inzaghi Still Has Two Defensive Doubts For Inter Opener Vs Genoa

On the right of the back three, Tuttosport report that Yann Bisseck is the favourite to start.

The German has been part of Inter’s training camp from the very start this summer.

Therefore, it is hardly surprising that Bisseck looks fitter than Benjamin Pavard, who only returned to training earlier this month.

Bisseck has put in a string of outstanding performances in preseason friendlies.

Therefore, the 23-eyar-old would be the likelier candidate than Pavard to start on Saturday against Genoa.

Meanwhile, on the left of defense, Alessandro Bastoni’s fitness is a bit of a doubt.

Bastoni did not feature in yesterday’s friendly match against Chelsea. That was due to some muscular fatigue on the part of the Italian.

Bastoni does not have a serious injury and should be a candidate to start on Saturday.

But if Inzaghi has any doubts about the Italian international’s physical condition he could always go with Carlos Augusto in the role.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport report, Matteo Darmian would be the favourite ahead of Denzel Dumfries to start on the right flank in Inter’s Serie A opener.
