Inter Milan Coach Proclaims ‘We Dominated Second Half’ Vs Napoli & ‘No Comment’ On VAR Controversy

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels his team “dominated” the second half of their Serie A match against Napoli.

The Nerazzuri coach reacted to the 1-1 draw in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews. He also refused to comment on the VAR penalty drama in the second half.

Inter took a point from their Serie A match against league leaders Napoli yesterday.

However, the feeling was that it could have been more.

After going behind early on to a Scott McTominay goal from a corner, Inter fought their way back into yesterday’s match, with Hakan Calhanoglu equalizing with a long-range effort.

The Nerazzurri went in at halftime level thanks to Calhanoglu’s goal. And they came out for the second half with an aggressive attitude.

Inter had the majority of possession, and pushed high up into Napoli’s half of the pitch.

There were chances and half-chances. Most notably, Inter had a penalty – which Calhanoglu missed.

But the Nerazzurri were not able to score the decisive goal to take three points and go top of the table heading into the international break.

Inzaghi: “Inter Dominated Second Half Vs Napoli, No Comment On VAR”

Inter coach Inzaghi argued that “We played a great match.”

“I congratulated everyone on their performance because they deserved it,” he said.

“We were intense, up against a strong opponent, They also proved their quality this evening.”

Inzaghi argued that “We went from strength to strength, not allowing anything from them after they went 1-0 up.”

“We equalized. And then in the second half it was total domination.”

“There were a number of situations we could have scored from,” the Nerazzurri coach said. “And we hit the post twice.”

“I have to separate the performance from the result,” Inzaghi argued. “I congratulated the team, particularly because we were coming off the back of the match against Arsenal.”

Of the tight title race at the top of the table, Inzaghi said that “I said before the season started that it would be a very balanced title race.”

“And what I predicted is coming to pass.”

“There are six teams within a couple points,” Inzaghi noted. “Now we need consistency, and not to have injuries.”

Meanwhile, the Inter coach also refused to respond to the fuming remarks from Napoli coach Antonio Conte about VAR after the Nerazzurri’s second half penalty.

“I have no comment,” Inzaghi said. “Antonio spoke for himself.”

“Sometimes VAR gives, and sometimes it takes away,” he went on.

“We have to give the referee a hand. Sometimes they make mistakes, they’re doing their best.”
