Inter Milan Coach Expects ‘Balanced’ Serie A Title Race After Narrowing The Gap Vs Napoli

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is expecting a “balanced” Serie A title race after his team cut the gap from Napoli to just a point.

The Nerazzurri coach argued that there are several teams who are all fighting for it after his team grabbed a 1-0 win over Venezia this evening speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews.

Inter took advantage of a loss by Napoli earlier today.

The Partenopei fell to just their second defeat of the season. They lost to Atalanta by the same scoreline that they’d lost to Hellas Verona on the first day of the season, 0-3.

And this opened the door for Inter.

And the Nerazzurri did not exactly rush through it. They were not anywhere near their most convincing in their victory over Venezia.

But the three points mean that Inter are now right in touching distance of the league leaders.

This is particularly significant considering that the two teams meet next weekend.

The Nerazzurri host the Partenopei in a top of the table clash. And this weekend’s results mean that there is a chance that they could overtake at the top of the table heading into the November international break.

As far as the narrowing gap at the top of the table, Inzaghi argued that “There are a number of teams who are right there at the top.”

“I said before the start of the season that it would be a balanced title race,” the Inter coach continued.

“We saw this evening that the matches can be open right until the end if you can’t score a second,” he added.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi also updated on the condition of defender Alessandro Bastoni after the Italian international had to come off as a substitute during the second half.

“Bastoni just had the first signs of cramps,” the Inter coach said.

“So I took him off for Bisseck right away.”

Meanwhile, Inzaghi explained his decision to keep Benjamin Pavard on the pitch despite a yellow card.

The Nerazzurri coach often substitutes off players after they have received a booking.

“Pavard was having an excellent first half,” he said.

“And then he got a yellow card that shouldn’t have been given,” the Inter coach argued.

Pavard went into the book for a tackle on Venezia striker Joel Pohjanpalo. The Frenchman won the ball, but also caught his opponent with a heavy follow-through in a sliding challenge.

“But he was focused an calm,” Inzaghi said of Pavard. “He has international experience, and I decided it was best to keep him on.”
