Mehdi Taremi painted his second UEFA Champions League start for Inter Milan with flying colors to inspire a crucial win on Tuesday evening.

During his post-game interview with Sky Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, Taremi opened up on his feelings after netting his first competitive goal in the Nerrazzurri jersey.

Taremi enjoyed a superb pre-season. However, despite delivering several promising performances, he couldn’t score in Serie A after six rounds.

His effort finally came to fruition this evening as he opened his Inter Milan account from the spot in a 4-0 demolition of Red Star Belgrade.

Indeed, the Iran international bagged a late spot-kick to cap off the Italian champions’ remarkable triumph.

Though his goal came from a penalty, most of the credit for Inter’s win goes to him.

It was his forced turnover that led to Marko Arnautovic’s goal.

Taremi stole the ball near the visitors’ penalty area before setting his teammate up on a platter.

Inter fans must have had a sense of deja vu only 12 minutes later.

The 32-year-old disposed Uros Spajic of the ball before delivering an assist to Lautaro Martinez.

Therefore, it was only fitting for him to take a penalty for his first-ever strike at Giuseppe Meazza.

Mehdi Taremi Happy For Making His Inter Milan Breakthrough in Mesmerizing Champions League Win

“I’m happy to have scored tonight. I was able to play well thanks to my teammates who helped me. It was great,” Taremi humbly said in the aftermath.

“I’m excited, it took time to score, but I’ve always tried to do my best in training and on the pitch. I fought for this and today I am happy.”

The former Porto marksman also outlined Inter’s ambitions in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

For sure our goal, like any big club, is to go all the way and try to win.”

“We will try step by step until the end.”
