Simone Inzaghi has urged his Inter Milan players not to get too complacent ahead of their UEFA Champions League showdown against Young Boys.

During his pre-match chat with Sky Sport, as reported by FCINterNews, the Nerazzurri boss pointed out the difficulty that an artificial pitch at the Stadion Wankdorf could cause.

Inter headed to Bern in high spirits despite losing Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi to injuries against Roma.

Lautaro Martinez’s second-half strike fired the reigning Scudetto holders to a narrow 1-0 triumph at the Stadio Olimpico.

That was their fourth consecutive win in all competitions, including a 4-0 rout of Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

Indeed, it was a follow-up to a gutsy 0-0 draw against Manchester City in round one.

As a result of their stubborn defensive performance, Inter entered round three as one of only six teams to have kept clean sheets on the opening two matchdays.

However, Inzaghi knows better than to let his team tuck themselves into a false sense of security.

Every game matters in the new league-phase format, meaning the Nerazzurri can’t afford to underestimate anyone.

“We face a team that did not start well. But last year’s coach is back and they played an excellent match against Luzern,” Inzaghi said.

“There will be difficulties, we will have to be good at dealing with them in the right way.”

Asked about the synthetic pitch, Inzaghi responded: “It’s a new thing for us.

“In fact, we came here to train to get used to it, even if with just one session.”

He also provided a fitness update on several missing first-team stars.

“As for the unavailable players, Calhanoglu, Acerbi, Asllani, and Buchanan will not be there.

“Today, we will also assess the condition of those who played on Sunday and see how Zielinski is doing, as he trained partially yesterday and responded well.

“I will try to make the right choices.”
