Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has made numerous changes to his starting line-up for tonight’s UEFA Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade.

During an interview with Sky Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, Inzaghi urged Inter to ‘follow up on the good performance’ in Manchester.

Despite a relatively slow start in Serie A, Inter issued a convincing statement in their Champions League opener.

One of the most solid team performances seen from an Italian club at Europe’s top table helped the Nerazzurri hold Manchester City to a 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium in round one.

Inter faced one of Europe’s most formidable teams and stood firm.

In doing so, the Nerazzurri became the first and only side to keep Pep Guardiola’s free-firing squad at bay this season.

Naturally, Inzaghi wants his team to build on that success.

“It’s the home debut, and we have to follow up on the good performance in Manchester, in our stadium, with our fans against Red Star, who, we know, are a good team,” Simone Inzaghi said.

He also discussed his decision to alter his starting XI following a 3-2 win against Udinese.

Davide Frattesi starts tonight’s game on the bench. He broke the deadlock at the Bluenergy Stadium in the first minute.

However, Inzaghi maintains the importance of rotating his players to avoid further injuries.

“Frattesi is one of our players who did well on Sunday. With Barella’s injury, I have one less midfielder. I have made evaluations.”

And finally, he opens up on his new-look frontline.

Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic have taken Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram’s places in the line-up.

“We’ll see how the game goes, they are two important players for us who are training well.

“The pitch and training made me decide to change.

“We know that this is a long and intense season and we need everyone.”
