Simone Inzaghi had urged Inter Milan to build on their performance in the build-up to their UEFA Champions League fixture against Red Star Belgrade.

His players obliged as the Nerazzurri dismantled the perennial Serbian SuperLiga champions 4-0 at Giuseppe Meazza.

During his post-match interview, as reported by FCInterNews, Inzaghi congratulated his players for an ‘excellent game.’

It was all Inter last night.

Hakan Calhanoglu’s headline-making free-kick opened the scoring in the 11th minute, setting the tone for Inter’s rip-roaring victory.

Subsequently, the Nerazzurri wasted numerous clear-cut chances to double their advantage before half-time.

However, it was only a matter of time before Inter would add to their tally.

Marko Arnautovic opened the floodgate with his seasonal breakthrough in the 59th minute.

From there, the only question was – where would Inter stand at the final whistle?

Lautaro Martinez had to score off the bench to increase his confidence before Mehdi Taremi found a well-deserved goal from the spot.

After the match, Inzaghi had nothing but praise for his side.

“We had two excellent games, and as I said in Udine, we played a good game tonight, albeit with some flaws,” Inzaghi stated.

“Tonight, we had everything to lose because we had to follow up on the performance in Manchester.

“We found a team that defended low, but we were good; we moved the ball, risking almost nothing. I congratulated the boys,” he maintained.

Of all Inter players last night, Taremi was arguably the most eye-catching.

Thanks to that, Inzaghi reserved special praise for him and another backup striker, Marko Arnautovic.

“Tonight, I received some very good news from him, but not only from him,” the Inter coach insisted.

“I put on the field guys who had played a little less, but I had no doubts.

“Arna was also good, as were the players who came on.”
