Inter Milan & Argentina Wonderkid’s Season Over Just Weeks Into Marseille Loan Spell After Nightmare Injury
Valentin Carboni will be out for the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury, and could return to Inter Milan from Marseille.
This according to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the young Argentine will be sidelined for no less than six months.
Teenage attacking midfielder Carboni joined Marseille on loan from Inter over the summer.
The Ligue 1 side reportedly signed Carboni at the behest of coach Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian tactician had marked the 19-year-old out as a major target.
Carboni is currently on loan with Marseille.
However, the French giants have a purchase option reportedly worth around €40 million on the Argentine.
Meanwhile, Inter reportedly have a buyback clause.
All of that is a reflection of the fact that both clubs undoubtedly see Carboni as a major talent for the future.
However, the 19-year-old has now suffered an enormous setback.
Valentin Carboni Out For The Season With ACL Tear – Could Return To Inter
Carboni has just suffered a major ACL injury.
This occurred whilst the teenage attacking midfielder was training with the Argentina squad in Miami.
The injury comes just weeks into the start of the season with Marseille.
Carboni had not begun the campaign as a regular in the lineup. But the Argentine had gotten his first start of the season against Angers just before the break.
However, it will be a long time before Carboni can return to the pitch.
The nature of Carboni’s injury means that he will need at least six months to recover. Likely longer than that.
This is similar to the high-profile ACL injuries to Manchester City’s Rodri and Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal.
According to the Gazzetta, Carboni could cut his loan spell at Marseille short.
The Argentine could return to Inter, where he would focus on his rehabilitation process.
