Inter Milan 2024-25 Season – How New signings & Tactics Will Drive Success
Following their success in the 2023/2024 Serie A campaign, Inter Milan heads into the 2024/2025 season with high expectations as they attempt to secure back-to-back league titles.
Their impressive performance under the leadership of coach Simone Inzaghi has revitalized the club and the Nerazzurri are eager to build on their last season’s momentum.
Inter Milan finished their last season’s campaign 19 points above the second-placed AC Milan while leaving Juventus trailing in the dust.
Their dominance extended past the Serie A title victory as they dispatched AC Milan in their head-to-head fixtures. However, the Nerazzurri will have a tough time defending their title against Serie A giants Juventus and Ac Milan.
Heading into the 2024/2025 Serie A season, Inter Milan are confident they can replicate their outstanding feat.
Coach Inzaghi has maintained most of his team that clinched the title last season and several reinforcements are coming in the summer transfer window.
But can Inter Milan’s new signings and the tactics of coach Simone Inzaghi help them secure the Scudetto title again this season?
How Inter Milan Will Maintain Squad Depth
Inter Milan’s success during the 2023/2024 Serie A campaign was largely built on their effective rotation and robust team depth.
To replicate this performance, the team must manage their player fitness and maintain the team depth. Their recent moves during the summer transfer window show that Nerazzurri means business in the 2024/2025 season and has significant plans for the future.
The Nerazzurri has already bid farewell to Davy Klaassen, Juan Cuadrado, Stefano Sensi, and Alexis Sanchez after the expiry of their contracts,
while Emil Audero returned to Sampdoria. Fortunately, they have already brought on Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski to replace Sanchez and Klaassen on free transfers. Zelinski and Taremi give the team greater strength in depth and fans can check Sporty Trader’s football match previews for their 2024/2025 campaign.
Simone Inzaghi’s side has also signed former Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez for a whopping €13.5 million.
Martinez is expected to revamp the team’s goalkeeping department, following the exit of Samir Handanovic and Andre Onana last summer.
However, Switzerland veteran Yann Sommer will remain Inzaghi’s first choice after proving his competency last season after going through the campaign almost unchallenged.
Martinez has shown a strong character and has great technical skills at the goalpost and when controlling the ball on his feet.
Early signs show that Martinez might have a prosperous future at Inter Milan and will be looking to get some playing time in the 2024/2025 season before taking over from Sommer.
Technical Strategies & Adjustments
Manager Simone Inzaghi’s tactical strategy centered around his infamous 3-5-2 formation was key to the Nerazzurri’s triumph. However, Inzaghi will need to maintain tactical flexibility for his side to mount a successful campaign in the 2024/2025 season.
Inzaghi will need to keep leveraging the strength of his wing-backs to give his team width and get goal-scoring opportunities.
The coach will also need to adapt tactics based on their opponents’ strengths and weaknesses. However, minor tactical adjustments like shifting to a 3-5-1-1 or 3-1-4-2 formation can give them the necessary edge in key matches.
