Inter Miami signs Argentine players Oscar Ustari, Tadeo Allende to beef up 2025 roster
Inter Miami signed a pair of Argentine reinforcements to its roster ahead of the first preseason game Saturday in Las Vegas against Mexican champion Club America.
The club re-signed goalkeeper Óscar Ustari to a one-year contract through the 2025 season. The 38-year-old, a friend and former Olympic teammate of Lionel Messi’s, spent the last few months of the 2024 season with Inter Miami.
The club also signed forward Tadeo Allende on a one-year loan from Spanish LaLiga club Celta de Vigo through the end of 2025. He will join the club once his visa paperwork clears.
“We are pleased to have an experienced goalkeeper like Óscar Ustari returning for another season, and adding depth to our goalkeeping unit,” said Inter Miami President of Football Operations Raul Sanllehi. “His experience and leadership were valuable in our locker room throughout the final months of the 2024 season and will continue being an asset for our club as we work towards achieving our goals in 2025.”
Ustari was a backup to starter Drake Callender, who is with the U.S. national team for January training camp and is not expected to be available for the game Saturday as Team USA plays Venezuela in Fort Lauderdale that same day.
“I’m excited to extend my time at this wonderful and ambitious club,” Ustari said. “I really enjoyed my time here in 2024 and I’m eager to continue helping, contributing my experience to the team at all times as we fight to achieve collective success. We will continue working diligently to meet the club’s demands in this new season.”
In his lone appearance last season, Ustari started in the penultimate regular season match away against Toronto FC. He kept a clean sheet with seven saves.
Prior to joining Inter Miami, Ustari made stops at Getafe CF (Spain), Sunderland (England), and Boca Juniors (Argentina). He played on the 2008 Olympic team with Messi.
Allende, 25, previously played for Córdoba (2021) and Deportivo Godoy Cruz (2022 on loan and 2022 to 2023) in Argentina prior to moving to Spain to play for Celta de Vigo in 2024.
“We’re pleased to bring in attacker Tadeo Allende to further strengthen our attack,” Sanllehi said. “Tadeo’s versatility bolsters our options up front as he can perform in different positions across the pitch. We’re excited to bring him on board to help us compete in multiple competitions in 2025.”
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to join Inter Miami for an exciting new chapter in my career. I’m happy to be here in South Florida and I’m ready to give it my all to help the Club achieve its objectives this upcoming season,” said Allende.
