Inter Further Contacts to Sign Dinamo Zagreb Prodigy
Inter are stepping up their efforts to acquire Petar Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb, but his potential arrival isn’t tied to the possible departure of Davide Frattesi. The Nerazzurri want to seal the deal this window but are open to leaving him on loan to the Croatian side until the end of the season, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
The midfielder is currently on the mend due to a metatarsal fracture. The parties aren’t too close at this stage, but the reigning Scudetto champions are moving concretely. He has posted 3 goals and 2 assists in 17 appearances so far this season. He scored twice in the Champions League and has five caps with his national team.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will have to shell out €10/12M to sign Sucic. He can star in a few different roles in the midfield, but he projects to become primarily a ‘regista,’ serving as Hakan Calhanoglu’s deputy and eventual heir.
The Nerazzurri aren’t very satisfied with Kristjan Asllani, who struggled again versus Bologna. He might be set for a run of starts since the Turk will sit out multiple games. He could be sold in the summer if he doesn’t improve. Henrikh Mkhitaryan will return soon, while Frattesi is nursing muscle fatigue.
Our Take on Inter and Sucic
He’s a fine prospect, and they could arguably use him right away, although it’s uncertain how much time he’ll be out due to his injury. It’s surely crunch time for Asllani, who needs to step up and prove his worth. It won’t be long before Simone Inzaghi turns to Piotr Zielinski there if he doesn’t show well.
