Inside the win over Lecce: Inzaghi’s 200th win and Lautaro’s goals
The win over Lecce takes Inter to 50 points in the standings with 21 games played and allows Simone Inzaghi’s side to keep flying in the league. It ended 4-0 at the Via del Mare with another clean sheet, the seventh in a row away from home.
POISONOUS LAUTARO
El Toro unleashed, it bears repeating. The Inter captain's 2025 started with a scoring streak of great and impactful goals. One goal in the Supercoppa Italiana, three consecutive in the league (Bologna, Empoli, Lecce - in February 2024 he scored in a row against Salernitana, Lecce and Atalanta), as well as a goal in Prague. Only good goals with spectacular finishes: right-footed and left-footed, as at the Via del Mare.
Lautaro's haul this season has been updated: 12 goals (9 in the league, two in the Champions League, one in the Supercoppa). The Argentine striker thus jumps to a total of 141 goals in an Inter shirt: he is still seventh in the rankings but only two spots behind Benito ‘Veleno’ Lorenzi who scored 143 goals with the Nerazzurri.
Lautaro also jumps to 112 goals in Serie A with Inter: he is the second-highest foreign goalscorer in Inter's league history, surpassing Mauro Icardi (111). Nyers, who he has already overtaken in the overall standings, remains the foreigner to have scored the most goals in Serie A with Inter (133 goals).
INZAGHI’S 200TH SERIE A WIN
The victory away to Lecce saw Simone Inzaghi surpass a prestigious and important milestone: it was the Nerazzurri Coach’s 200th win in Serie A. Not only that, this is a record: he is the coach to have taken the least time to reach this milestone. 200 wins in 332 games in charge in Serie A for Inzaghi (between Lazio and Inter), before him the record holder was Massimiliano Allegri with 200 wins in 338 matches.
The victory in Lecce also brings Inzaghi's tally with Inter to 300 points since he has been in the Nerazzurri dugout.
TAREMI’S FIRST GOAL IN SERIE A
After getting on the scoresheet in the Champions League and Supercoppa Italiana, Mehdi Taremi got his first goal for the Nerazzurri in Serie A. A perfect penalty, as soon as he entered the pitch, to ensure the final 4-0 win over Lecce.
Taremi is the third Iranian player to bag in Serie A after Rahman Rezaei (six goals between 2001 and 2007 with Perugia and Livorno) and Sardar Azmoun (three goals between 2023 and 2024 with Roma).
DUMFRIES UNSTOPPABLE AND THE USUAL FRATTESI
Denzel Dumfries continues to make his mark. He opened the year of 2025 with a super brace in the Supercoppa Italiana against Atalanta. From there, he has hardly stopped: three goals in a row in Serie A, against Bologna, Empoli and Lecce. That's five goals since the beginning of the year, eight in the season. In the league, he is at currently on six, a personal record.
Davide Frattesi opened the scoring against Lecce: always in the thick of the action and lethal in front of the goal, the midfielder is on four goals this season for a total of 12 goals in the league with Inter.
Inter have scored 55 goals after 21 games this season: this is only the second time that the Nerazzurri have scored at least as many goals after the first 21 matches of a single top-flight league tournament (58 in 1949/50).
