Inside Inter Miami: Club winning without Messi as he deals with injury in Copa America

Life is good right now if you’re a futbol fan.

You wake up, get your day started. Watch Euro 2024.

Then as the evening begins, you watch Copa America.

And if you’re an Inter Miami fan, your club is hanging in pretty well considering Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and others are absent while playing for their home countries.

On the latest episode of Inside Inter Miami, hosts Michelle Kaufman and Andre Fernandez discuss how the club has more than managed since the break for their superstars as they’ve beaten Philadelphia and reigning MLS champion Columbus back-to-back.

We look at how Ian Fray had a big role in the win over the Crew, remarkably coming off his series of knee injuries.

But Messi hasn’t really been Messi so far in the Copa America. We pose the question as to why that is happening?

Is it less cohesion with the Argentine side than he has with his Inter Miami teammates? Is it the fact he just turned 37? Or is it the thigh discomfort that could keep him out of Argentina’s final pool round match on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium? We discuss Messi’s status in that game and why it’s likely Argentina will play most of its reserves having already secured a spot in the Copa quarterfinals.

We look at how the USMNT is doing so far and its chances of advancing in the tournament, plus a breakdown of where things stand in both Copa America and Euro 2024 as of Wednesday.
