Injury Could Delay Former Canucks Center Elias Lindholm's Return To Rogers Arena

After a 4-0 shutout of the Florida Panthers on Thursday, the Vancouver Canucks are getting set to host the Boston Bruins this Saturday night. There is a lot of intrigue heading into this game as two former Canucks are set to return to Rogers Arena for the first time since signing with Boston this offseason. In the end, it may only be Nikita Zadorov who gets to make his return to Vancouver, as Elias Lindholm's status for Saturday night is questionable.

During the Bruins' 5-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken, Lindholm left the game with an upper-body injury. The injury occurred around the mid-way mark of the second period, with Lindholm only logging 6:56 in Thursday's loss. So far this season, Lindholm has 13 points in 31 games and is averaging 18:02 of ice time per game.

While Lindholm's time with the Canucks was short, it was memorable. He recorded 12 points in 26 regular-season games, as well as ten in 13 playoff games. Lindholm was one of Vancouver's most consistent players in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, as he helped the Canucks win their first non-bubble playoff series since 2011.

This offseason, Lindholm signed a seven-year deal with the Bruins, which carries an annual cap hit of $7.75 million. The 30-year-old has played 849 career regular season games and was part of last year's All-Star Game. While Lindholm has struggled to produce offensively, he has been really good in the faceoff dot for the Bruins, winning 53.2% of his 523 faceoffs this season.

As mentioned, while Lindholm may be out of the lineup, fans will still get the opportunity to welcome Zadorov back to Vancouver. Like Lindholm, Zadorov's time with the Canucks was short, but his big hits and one-liners in press conferences made him a fan favourite. Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:00 pm PT, with Vancouver looking to sweep their 2011 rivals for the first time since 2018-19.
