New injury concern for Morata ahead of Lecce visit in Serie A
Spain captain and Milan striker Alvaro Morata has been struck down by a new injury complaint, and is expected to miss Friday evening’s visit from Lecce in Serie A, coach Paulo Fonseca confirmed in his press conference on Thursday afternoon.
Morata a doubt for Milan ahead of Lecce
The Sapniard suffered some minor bruising during training, which has led to a case of bursitis, an inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs that cushion the bones and muscles in your joints.
Morata will almost certainly miss the game against Lecce on Friday, but he could still be included in the list of called-up players, in case he makes a quick recovery in time for tomorrow’s match.
Calciomercato.com, however, suggest that he could still be a doubt for the Champions League trip to Leverkusen on Tuesday.
It is the second bit of injury trouble of the season for Morata, who also missed two of the first three games of the season with a muscular issue.
Fonseca has confirmed that Luka Jovic is unlikely to replace him in the starting line-up, which means a probable opportunity for Tammy Abraham up front, with either Tijjani Reijnders or Ruben Loftus-Cheek expected to assume the advanced midfielder role.
