Riccardo Calafiori has avoided a major knee injury despite sparking concern following Arsenal’s win over Leicester City, according to reports.

Though it went somewhat unnoticed at the time, given Arsenal’s late winning goals, Riccardo Calafiori picked up an injury at the end of Saturday’s game against Leicester City.

Football insider Team News and Ticks first reported on Patreon that there was “some concern” that Calafiori had a knee injury, and that he was “in tears after the game”.

After that, pictures and clips started to emerge. First of Calafiori going to ground during Arsenal’s goal celebrations, then of the player wearing a knee compression sleeve whilst signing autographs afterwards.

But there have been positive updates since then, with Team News and Ticks confirming that scans on Calafiori’s injury have showed no significant damage.

Despite concerns after the game, fears have now “been eased”. Though it’s still possible the player has a more minor injury.

At the very least, the reports suggest Calafiori is a doubt to face Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

But with Calafiori having suffered an ACL injury back in 2018, the main feeling right now will be relief that this doesn’t appear to be that serious.

Calafiori has made an excellent start at Arsenal, underlined by his fantastic goal at the Etihad Stadium on his first start.

The Italy international went on to make consecutive starts against Bolton Wanderers and Leicester City in a couple of wins last week, but we’ll have to wait and see if he plays a significant role in the next couple of games before the international break.
