Injuries To Two First-Team Stalwarts Derail Inter Supercoppa Italiana Performance Vs AC Milan
Inter Milan stuttered in the second half of last night’s Supercoppa Italiana final as a result of injuries to Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, Milan deserved the trophy as they battled back from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 in Riyadh.
Thuram sustained an injury problem in a 2-0 semifinal triumph against Atalanta, forcing Simone Inzaghi to field Mehdi Taremi.
It proved a blessing in disguise as the former Porto star delivered a sparkling performance.
Indeed, he racked up a goal and an assist in his best performance for the Nerazzurri yet.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for a fourth successive Supercoppa Italiana title.

Calhanoglu was in the starting XI but had to come off with an injury in the 35th minute, with Kristjan Asllani taking his place.
Despite his best efforts, the Albanian fell short of matching the ex-Milan playmaker’s exceptional standard.
However, it takes nothing away from Milan’s superb performance as they inflicted Inter’s third defeat this season.
Indeed, they’re the only Italian side to beat the Nerazzurri in 2024/25.
Milan stunned Inter 2-1 in the first edition of the famous Derby della Madonnina of the season in September.
