Injured KU forward Zach Clemence remains out of action with no timetable for return
Junior forward Zach Clemence, who has missed the Kansas Jayhawks’ past two men’s basketball games because of a groin injury, will not play in Sunday’s game at UCF, KU coach Bill Self said Friday.
Clemence, who was hurt at practice leading up to the Brown game on Dec. 22, is in fact out indefinitely.
“It’s not good,” Self said of Clemence’s status. “He’s still not able to do anything. Whether or not or when he’ll be back I think is still up in the air. It’s probably better than it was three weeks ago, two weeks ago. It’s still not close to the point he can be out there and practice.”
Clemence, a 6-foot-11, 230-pound native of San Antonio, has scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while playing in eight games this season.
On Dec. 22, Self said: “Zach pulled his groin pretty significantly about three days ago. So he’s going to be out, and he may be out a while. We don’t know yet. It’s more significant. And sometimes those groins come, you come back too early and you’re going to tweak it again more likely. So we’ll wait and see how it responds after Christmas.”
Tipoff for Sunday’s KU-UCF game is 3 p.m. Central Time at Addition Financial Arena in Orange County, Florida.
