Injured Fleetwood striker Coughlan out for nine months
Fleetwood Town striker Ronan Coughlan will be out for nine months after snapping his Achilles tendon in their defeat by Carlisle United on Saturday.
The 28-year-old, who is the League Two club's top scorer, sustained the injury while scoring his 10th goal of the season.
He will now miss the rest of the campaign as well as the beginning of the 2025-26 season as he begins a lengthy recovery period.
"It's really sad news because he's been outstanding this season," boss Pete Wild told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"He's having surgery tonight and it's going to be a long road. We need to support him in and out of the building on his recovery.
"He's got real quality and our job is to make sure he comes back bigger, stronger, and as good if not better a player than he was before."
