Injured Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco provides hopeful update on social media

Fans were saddened to hear that running back Isiah Pacheco suffered a serious injury Sunday in the Chiefs’ 26-25 win over the Bengals.

Pacheco’s fibula was broken, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported, while ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said Pacheco is headed to injured reserve and is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

Multiple reports said former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, who is currently a free agent, was expected to be in Kansas City on Tuesday for a workout.

Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday afternoon that Hunt had signed with the Chiefs and will be on their practice squad.

Pacheco, who has run the ball 34 times for 135 yards this season, seems to be eager to get back to the Chiefs as soon as possible. And in what appears to be a hopeful sign, it doesn’t look like Pacheco is feeling down.

In an Instagram post, he wrote: “AIN’T NO RELAX 10 ON MY SOUL…”

Chiefs wide receivers Skyy Moore and Rashee Rice responded to that post with fingers crossed emojis.

Fans shared positive messages for Pacheco.

“With your heart and determination you will be back in no time,” one wrote. “Praying for an easy healing and speedy recovery!!! Football is not the same without Pop, we will be waiting on you !”

Another shared this: “Oh sweet Isiah.. prayers for your quick recovery and complete healing. You are an amazing young man and elite athlete! Thank you for showing kids how to handle the good times and the not so good times. We love you #10.”

A third wrote: “I‘m praying you have a full recovery. You the heart and soul of the squad.”
