Inactives announced in Carolina Panthers-Los Angeles Chargers game. Will Joey Bosa play?
The Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Chargers have made a few key roster decisions ahead of their Week 2 contest.
Among those decisions: The Chargers announced that Joey Bosa, one of the top pass rushers in the league, will play. Bosa was labeled as “questionable” heading into Sunday’s game in Bank of America Stadium with a back injury.
This bit of news is a welcomed one for the Chargers, which get one of the most impactful pass rushers in the NFL. It’s a dreaded one for the Panthers, who will have their hands full staving off Bosa and Khalil Mack as second-year quarterback Bryce Young and the Panthers’ offense try to rebound from a moribund Week 1 performance against the Saints.
The Jim Harbaugh-led Chargers announced that quarterback Taylor Heinicke, running back Kimani Vidal, cornerback Tarheeb Still, safety Alohi Gilman, offensive lineman Jordan McFadden, wide receiver Brenden Rice and defensive lineman Justin Eboigbe will not play.
The Panthers announced their inactive list, too. This list comes as a relief for the Panthers, who had five guys listed as questionable heading into their home-opener, including starting punter Johnny Hekker (back), starting tight end Tommy Tremble (back/hamstring) and starting kick returner Raheem Blackshear (personal). Tremble’s return is particularly compelling; his receiving production and presence as a blocker was missed in Week 1 after being listed as out.
