Enzo Maresca has shared this thoughts on the form of Nicolas Jackson with the striker on a run of one goal in the last six games.

The Blues dropped points for the fourth game running after being held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, despite taking the lead through Cole Palmer.

As has been the case the Blues missed numerous chances and were punished when Palmer gave the ball away late on which led to Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring eight minutes from time.

Jackson was restored to the starting line-up having been dropped to the bench in the defeat against Ipswich, but the Senegal international had a difficult afternoon in front of goal.

Despite having a good start to the season and having nine league goals to his name Jackson was guilty of missing some big chances against the Eagles, whilst Maresca has insisted there’s many things he can do better.

The 23-year-old has improved a lot from last season, but the Blues could really have done with him taking some of the chances he’s had over the past few games.

Thierry Henry believes Jackson is on his way to becoming the real deal, but given his lack of experience there’s still a lot of deficiencies in his game.

Having started the campaign well Jackson is now on a run of just one goal in his last six games and Maresca commented on his form after the game.

“For a striker, sometimes all the chances they score and sometimes they have chances and don’t score,” he told his post match press conference.

“The important thing is Nico today had two or three clear chances – so he is there, he is ready and hopefully next time he can be a little bit more lucky but overall, I think Nico did a good game today.”

The decision to not sign a striker in the summer is starting to look costly, but according to reports the feeling is Chelsea will make a move for Liam Delap but it remains unlikely that will happen in January.
