Important Bruins Prospect Is Dominating The AHL
Matthew Poitras is not the only Boston Bruins prospect who is on fire in the American Hockey League (AHL). This is because fellow top forward prospect Georgii Merkulov is also dominating with the Providence Bruins right now.

Merkulov is currently on a seven-game point streak, where he has three goals and 10 points over that span. With this, he now has six goals and 23 points in 23 games with the AHL squad this season.
However, what's more encouraging is that Merkulov only seems to be getting better as his point streak continues. The 24-year-old forward recorded four points over his last two games, including scoring a goal and adding an assist against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Dec. 15.
With this excellent play, Merkulov is certainly making a case for himself to get another opportunity with the NHL club. Time will tell if that comes to fruition.
In three games this season with Boston, Merkulov has one assist and a minus-1 rating.
