Hurricanes Late Storm Creates 3-2 Victory Over Sharks

Luke Kunin scored two goals, but the San Jose Sharks couldn't withstand the late push of the Carolina Hurricanes, as they won 3-2 on Tuesday.

Jalen Chatfield scored at 17:21 of the third period with the game-winning goal for the Hurricanes, who have won two of their last three games. Shayne Gostisbehere, Brent Burns for the Canes, and Pyotr Kochetkov made 21 saves.

Kunin's two goals bring him to a season total of eight, and Macklin Celebrini had the primary assist on Kunin's first goal. Nikolai Kovalenko made his Sharks debut following the trade from the Colorado Avalanche. Vitek Vanecek made 25 saves.

Barclay Goodrow returned from an upper-body injury and played in his first game since Nov. 27.

Gostisbehere walks in alone on the left wing before beating Vanecek over the blocker to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead 4:26 into the first period.

Celebrini creates an offensive chance with his hands and skating before passing to Kunin in the middle to score his 7th goal. The Sharks tied the game 1-1 at 18:51 of the first period.

Kunin stuffs home his second goal of the game to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead at 8:24 of the second period.

Burns scores against his former team after tapping in a terrific passing play to tie the game 2-2 at 4:11 of the third period.

Chatfield scores with 2:39 remaining in the third period to give the Hurricanes a 3-2 lead.
