Hurricanes Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere To Miss Time With Upper-Body Injury
The Carolina Hurricanes will be without top scoring defenseman and power play quarterback Shayne Gostisbehere for the time being as the blueliner deals with an upper-body injury.
"I'm not sure the extent of it, but it will be more than day-to-day," said Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour on Monday. "That's all I can tell you right now."
Gostisbehere, 31, left Saturday's game against the New Jersey Devils before the end of the third period and was then ruled out before Sunday's game.
The defenseman has six goals and 27 points in 35 games with Carolina this season and was the team's primary power play quarterback.
His 27 points ranked seventh among NHL defensemen and his 18 power play points ranked second amongst all blueliners.
His absence will be a big one for Carolina who have called up 2018 17th overall pick Ty Smith from the AHL in the meantime.
