Hurricane Idalia tracker live: Category 3 storm lands in Florida, approaches Georgia

Hurricane Idalia eased to a Category 3 storm Wednesday as it landed in Florida with sustained winds near 125 miles per hour.

Idalia reached the Big Bend coast of Florida Wednesday morning and is forecasted to turn toward the northeast and east-northeast, “moving near or along the coasts of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina” Wednesday night and Thursday, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

A hurricane warning has been issued for the east coast of the United States from Georgia to South Carolina, the hurricane center said.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 49 of the state's 67 counties.
