Humboldt Broncos player given standing ovation at Jets game
It has been just over two weeks since the tragic bus crash involving the Humboldt Broncos shook both the small Saskatchewan town and the sports world.
The outpouring of support in the wake of the tragedy has been unprecedented, and that continued Friday during Game 5 between the Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild.
Broncos player Matthieu Gomercic, who was released from hospital last week, was invited to attend the Jets’ series-clinching win. The Winnipeg native received a booming ovation from the crowd when introduced on the Jumbotron.

It was a touching moment for the 20-year-old and his family. Hopefully there will be more stories like this in the coming weeks as the town of Humboldt and all those affected by the tragedy begin the healing process.
