Kelly Clark will lead out Elena Sadiku’s Celts with all of the paraphernalia and awe that we’ve come to expect from such standout nights.
No less than Women’s Super League champions, Chelsea supply the opposition on this historic occasion and it’s a test that everyone in the squad is relishing.
The head coach said: “It’s going to be a great game, we have a great team coming to Celtic Park, so we are looking forward to the challenge.
“We know what we did against Real Madrid and we’ve been having a great run of games lately, and there is a great confidence and mood in the team. So they are looking forward to the game.
“We are all set about the game-plan. The players know exactly what to do.
“For me, I’m going to try to give them as much energy as possible from the sidelines. I don’t know if they are going to hear me, but I promise they will see my body language at least.'
"The support from the fans is something that is so important, because it’s going to be tough.
“We have a huge respect for Chelsea as a team. I have a huge respect for the manager.
“But, like I’ve always said, when the whistle goes it’s 11 v 11, it’s a game that we want to make sure that we put the best performance in. We are going to try to win the game.”
On leading the Celts out of the Paradise tunnel on a Champions League night, the captain said: “It’s huge. It’s the stuff games are made of.
‘I come and watch the guys all the time playing Champions League here and it’s an occasion like nothing else you could ever experience.’
“To be doing it is genuinely a dream come true. I can’t wait for it to be time to meet the group - to arrive and see what it’s like.
“It’s weird, we’ve been in the stadium and seeing everything happening around about – but it’s the prep for our Champions League game with loads of people walking about with UEFA lanyards on.
“To walk out and see the Champions League branding everywhere, to walk out and hopefully hear a big crowd cheer, to see my parents in the stand, my family, my grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins – the lot, it’s got to be up there.
“It’s a huge occasion and I can’t wait for it to be time.”
