Home early and often, on the road a lot late: Breaking down Miami Hurricanes’ 2025 schedule

Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal celebrates with fans after their win over the Duke Blue Devils during an ACC football game at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, in Miami Gardens, Fla.

The Miami Hurricanes will spend a lot of time on home turf for Year 4 of the Mario Cristobal era before closing the season with a road-heavy slate.

The Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday night released the 2025 football schedules for the entire league.

The notables for UM:

In addition to playing eight of their 12 regular-season games at Hard Rock Stadium (a first since 1971), the Hurricanes won’t leave the state of Florida until November — at which point three of their final five games of the season are outside of the state.

That five-game stretch to cap the season: at SMU on Nov. 1, home against Syracuse on Nov. 8 and N.C. State on Nov. 15, and then on the road against Virginia Tech on Nov. 22 and at Pittsburgh on Nov. 29.

The SMU game will be the first time the Hurricanes travel to play the Mustangs, who joined the ACC last season, and just the second all-time meeting between the schools. SMU won the first matchup 7-3 back in 1965.

The Hurricanes, coming off a 10-3 (6-2 ACC) season in 2024, play all four of their non-conference games at home this season. Those games are against Notre Dame on Aug. 31 (7:30 p.m. kickoff, ABC) followed by Sept. 6 against Bethune-Cookman, Sept. 13 against USF and Sept. 20 against Florida.

Miami opens ACC play at Florida State on Oct. 4 and will be idle both the week before and after that game against the Seminoles.

After FSU and the second bye, Miami plays two more conference home games against Louisville on Oct. 17 (a Friday) and Stanford on Oct. 25 before the travel truly begins in November. The home game against Stanford will be the first meeting between the schools.
