“Go Home”: Don Cherry Speaks On Canucks’ Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller
Former Canadian broadcaster Don Cherry hosted the well-loved “Coaches Corner” segment for 37 years, until Cherry was dismissed for his controversial comments towards immigrants. Known for his bright suits and Canada-first mentality, Cherry has since started his own hockey podcast, in which he shares his insights on the NHL and beyond. In the episode released on Saturday, January 19, he made some interesting comments towards the state of the Vancouver Canucks.
“Nobody would want him,” he said of Elias Pettersson. “He had one good year.”
Cherry continued by saying that “he should go to Buffalo” after learning of the most recent potential Pettersson trade proposal. Cherry’s son, Tim, added on by claiming that both Pettersson and J.T. Miller should “go home” to fix the reported rift between them.
“That’s the only way,” the Cherry patriarch echoed his son’s comments about how to remedy the “rift.” He and his son proceeded to talk about how the old Boston Bruins wouldn’t “put up with that.
“I wouldn’t put up with Pettersson,” he said.

Pettersson was not the only player Cherry criticized, however, as he also picked apart Miller’s recent behaviour. “As soon as he started to get heck, he went to the end of the bench,” he said about Miller’s recent “benching” in January 16th’s 5–1 loss against the L.A. Kings.
Rick Tocchet just walked down and said something to JT Miller at the bench. Miller got up and walked to the end of the bench. Not sure we'll see much more of him tonight.

While Canucks fans may not be happy about his comments towards Pettersson, they’ll be glad to know that Cherry took their side on the matter of Connor McDavid’s three-game suspension.
“You can’t give him one game and then the other guy three games,” he said simply. With that being said, he was still adamant that Conor Garland’s actions were “ridiculous.”
