Hockey Fever Spreading Rapidly In Utah

The Utah Hockey Club are all set for their inaugural season.

The Hockey Club will play the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night at the Delta Center to kick off the first ever NHL game in Utah.

It seems that the people of Utah have been struck with hockey fever with the NHL season just one day away.

“My neighbors are all fired up, everyone you talk to,” Lawson Crouse said via NHL.com. “I think word travels pretty quick that hockey players are in town, and everyone’s so excited, so it’s cool to be a part of that, the buzz.”

Utah has embraced these professional hockey players with open arms. From the moment the team touched down in Salt Lake City over the summer, they were beloved by all and became instant celebrities.

Through the preseason, the atmosphere at the Delta Center was palpable.

“Obviously, we saw what happened in the first preseason game,” Mikhail Sergachev said. “I think it was a success for the organization, and people were excited, and it was actually very loud. I did not expect this rink to be that loud.

“At the beginning, it felt like a playoff when they started announcing our names. When we got on the ice for the first time, it was unbelievable, honestly. Yeah, we have a great opportunity here to grow the game in Utah.”

Utah only has one major professional sports franchise aside from the Hockey Club, so the arrival of this team is monumental for the state.

The honeymoon period is over though and now it’s time to play hockey.
