Hockey Analysts Are Pushing The Panic Button On Rangers

ESPN'S GREG WYSHYNSKI: "The roster has seemingly tuned out (Peter Laviolette). The Rangers appear to have lost interest in yet another coach."

VETERAN HOCKEY TV PRODUCER, CHRIS RILEY: "Drury and Laviolette have lost the team. The team has quit. Peter's act has worn thin again with another team."

EMMY AWARD-WINNING HOCKEY PRODUCER, GEORGE WRAGE: "Shesterkin wanted to be the highest-paid goalie in history; therefore he's got to make incredible saves. He put a target on his back when he made that deal and now he's gotta live up to it and not be content with excuses."

FAMOUS NEW JERSEY HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY COACH, HUTCH COHEN: "The Jacob Trouba fiasco will follow the Rangers and Chris Drury as long as he's GM of the Rangers. I'm a very disappointed Rangers fan. Both the GM and the coach have to go."

NHL SCOUT, JESS RUBENSTEIN: "For everyone who wants to blame Laviolette, he's joined the tradition of Rangers coaches who had a first great season and fell apart in the next. Each coach has had one thing in common -- a GM who failed to improve the team during the off-season and stuck the coach with a core and leadership group that lacks leadership. Stop giving Drury the pass as all this mess is his fault."

MANY RANGERS BOOK AUTHOR INCLUDING 'WE DID EVERYTHING BUT WIN,' GEORGE GRIMM: "If you want to point fingers, here goes: Since the defense has forgotten to defend (point the finger at) Defense coach, Phil Housley. And since the forwards are being caught deep on a regular basis (point the finger at) Offense coach, Michael Peca. As for the team's general malaise and lack of accountability, that falls squarely on coach Peter Laviolette."

BLUE COLLAR BLUESHIRTS PUBLISHER-COLUMNIST SEAN MCAFFREY: "I've never been a fan of Chris Drury and I consider him the worst captain in Rangers history. His run as GM has been an abject failure. Now we have to wonder how much longer team owner Jim Dolan will let this mess go on since it's time to make changes now because his Rangers are an all-out mess. Change is needed!"

THE MAVEN: Sean McCaffrey is right. The buck stops with owner Dolan. Changes could begin as soon as you read this. The questions are as follows: Will Dolan can Drury? Or, will Drury replace Laviolette? Or will Kaapo Kakko or some other Ranger be traded? Or will we just wait for the gala return of our hero – Matt Rempe?
