‘Hip problem’ – Craig Hope shares worrying injury update about Newcastle star after 3-1 win over Forest

Newcastle United secured an excellent 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday to head confidently into the final international break of the season.

The Magpies were enduring a poor run of form last month after going five top-flight matches without a win.

However, they lifted the spirits around St James’ Park by beating Arsenal 1-0 last weekend.

And today Newcastle built on that result by producing another impressive display at the City Ground, winning the contest 3-1 after second-half goals from Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes.

However, in a blow for the Tyneside club, Anthony Gordon has picked up an injury issue that saw him come off after 80 minutes

According to the Daily Mail reporter Craig Hope, the 23-year-old is a doubt for England’s fixtures due to a hip problem.

The Magpies’ supporters will be hoping Gordon’s injury isn’t serious and he will be able to return to the team after the international break.

The forward has been a key member of Eddie Howe’s team this season. He has started 10 matches in the English top-flight so far, with two goals and an assist to his name.

Gordon missed Newcastle’s 2-1 defeat at Chelsea but returned to the team for the Arsenal game and set up Alexander Isak for the decisive goal.

The 23-year-old wasn’t at his best today against Forest but his performance improved in the second-half when he moved over to his preferred position on the left.
