Tuesday’s high school basketball rewind: Scores, stars from a big opening night
The prep basketball season got under way Tuesday night for many of the area’s private school teams.

Tuesday’s #BIG5 top performers
Nick Diaz, Charlotte Country Day boys: Diaz had a game-high 19 points in an 83-50 season-opening win over the South Charlotte Thunder. He was one of three Bucs in double-figures, joining Jerome Lowery (14) and Joseph Youakim (13).
Emily King, Metrolina Christian girls: In her first game back from knee surgery, King had 23 points, a game-high, in a 52-25 win over Greater Cabarrus.
Brycen Redmon, Westminster Catawba boys: Redmon had a game-high 26 points in a 65-48 win over Legion Collegate. In his first three games, Redmon is averaging 28 points per game.
Laylah Toscano, Jackson Day girls: In a 62-22 win over Bradford Prep, Toscano had a double-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Sam Vanderhave, Charlotte Country Day girls: Vanderhave had a game-high 20 points in a 63-22 win over the South Charlotte Thunder.
