England's Alice Hewson claimed her first Ladies European Tour title in four years with a play-off victory at the Swiss Open.

The 26-year-old shared the lead with India's Tvesa Malik at 11 under par after a dramatic final round in which 23 players sat within three shots of the lead at the midway point.

Hewson made only one birdie on the front nine but carded three birdies and an eagle on the back nine at the Golfpark Holzhausern in a six-under round of 65.

She made a birdie on the first play-off hole, while Malik missed the green with her approach shot.

Hewson, whose only previous victory came at the South African Women's Open in 2020, said: "Coming from [winning] my first ever event on the Tour to now, it's been a journey - a lot of ups and downs.

"There were times when the belief was definitely missing. I went through a bit of a rough patch two and a bit years ago, so to be back winning, I'm very grateful."

Hewson won 45,000 euros (ÂŁ38,000) in prize money and moved up to fifth in the LET Order of Merit.
