Chrissy Teigen Addresses ‘Pizzagate Insanity’ And Mental Health Struggles

Updated article on 8/9/20: Chrissy Teigen has opened up about the impact ‘Pizzagate’ has had on her mental health, revealing that she has recently dealt with some ‘deep dark internet’ hatred.

For several years, the pregnant model’s social media accounts have been flood with unsubstantiated allegations of sex trafficking and links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The trolling has often seen her and her husband John Legend accused of paedophilia and receiving pizza emoji comments on their social media posts, referencing the ‘Pizzagate’ theory linked to the far-right conspiracy group QAnon.

Despite denying the claims and the police never formally accusing the couple of any illegal activity, the couple continue to be targeted with paedophilia rumours.

Months after deleted tweets in an attempt to protect her family, Teigen has now spoken out on Instagram about the impact the ongoing accusations have on her mental health and family life.

‘I have lived a life begging for people to like me and think I'm cool and funny and their friend, and bam, it felt like everyone f**king hated me,’ she captioned a post on Instagram on Tuesday September 8 in which she spoke of her pregnancy.

‘I couldn't do anything right, say anything right. My own fan pages wrote me, asking if I still wanted to be talked about even though the comments would be super hurtful.’

The mother-of-two continued, stating that she wouldn’t leave ‘cute comments’ on her friends’ account in the knowledge they too would be inundated with ‘pizzagate insanity’.

The Sports Illustrated model wrote that making people happy is her modus operandi, adding: ‘There is nothing else I wanna do. I guess I’ve come to terms with the fact not everyone is going to like me, and even though I still VERY MUCH DO NOT LIKE THAT, I can live with it.’

She concluded her post, thanking her fans for their support for the past few months.

Last month, Teigen announced that she was expecting her third child with Legend.

Original article published on 16/7/20: Chrissy Teigen continues to be embroiled in baseless conspiracies from alt-right trolls, connecting her to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The model has been attacked on social media, over the last couple of years, with claims of an Epstein link. She's even revealed that she's been targeted with photoshopped images of herself and her husband John Legend on the convicted paedophile’s private island in the US Virgin Islands.

Epstein died last August while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Several of his accusers claim that they were sexually assaulted by the businessman and his associates on the island.

In October last year, Teigen took to Twitter to open up about the accusations levelled against her and Legend by ‘QAnon’ believers.

‘QAnon’ is a collective term used to describe a popular far-right conspiracy that involves Epstein, but also theorises that liberal-leaning people are members of a global paedophilia network. There's no evidence that any of what QAnon believers claim is factual.

‘I had a real life before this,’ Teigen wrote at the time in a now private tweet.

‘It's not just weirdos in random towns. these people are all over. I hate what some people have become and what social has done for this kind of reach. [...] the fact I have to learn to let people get away with s--- like this is insane to me. [sic]’

As Teigen and Legend continue to be caught up in baseless accusations from QAnon believers, here's everything you need to know:

Why is Chrissy Teigen being linked to QAnon?

In 2017, Teigen addressed a Twitter user who claimed that she was part of ‘Pizzagate’ – a 2017 conspiracy theory that accused celebrities, and more often than not Democracts including Hilary Clinton, of being part of a paedophile ring that was orchestrated out of a pizza restaurant.

At the time, the model tweeted that she ‘debated saying something about’ the claims, but felt ‘disturbed’ and ‘scared’. She and Legend threatened legal action and Twitter is believed to have de-verified the Twitter account that first accused Teigen of being part of Pizzagate.

Two years later, Teigen addressed false accusations that her and Legend's names appeared on Epstein's private flight logs on his private plane, which was colloquially known as ‘The Lolita Express’. Neither Teigen nor Legend are named on any of the flight logs for the plane, and they have never been photographed with Epstein.

‘Like someone there is a chicken scratch list of with “epStEin FLIGHT loGs” and wrote down jon + crissy and now they all believe this [sic],’ she tweeted on October 24 2019.

Chrissy Teigen blocks over one million Twitter accounts

As a result of ongoing trolling regarding QAnon, Teigen has decided block over a million users for the safety of her family.

Following Epstein’s former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell’s arrest earlier this month, Teigen has been the target of thousands of posts that continue to accuse her and Legend of being linked to Epstein.

Maxwell is accused of helping Epstein's abuse of minors by recruiting and grooming victims who were known to be underage. She has denied any involvement in or knowledge of the former businessman’s alleged sexual misconduct and has been denied bail.

On Tuesday July 14, Teigen spoke out about the accusations and her reasons for blocking Twitter users.

‘Every time I post food, some q anon loser asks if it contains baby [sic],’ she tweeted.

‘I'm honestly just gonna start posting things to drive them even more bats**t insane. Also like, was I on the island, do I eat babies, or just put them on my skin, or am a pedo?? like I'm everything? pick a lane. [sic]’

The model also tweeted several of the tweets she’s recently received from QAnon believers.

‘Some celebrities have been VERY busy since #GhislaineMaxwell was arrested,’ one message to the star read. ‘@chrissyteigen why did you delete over 28,000 tweets yesterday??!!’

‘I actually deleted 60,000 tweets because I cannot f**king STAND you idiots anymore and I’m worried for my family [sic],' Teigen explained, before referencing her now-deleted tweets which included a joke she made in 2013 about the US reality series Toddlers and Tiaras.

‘Finding me talking about toddlers and tiaras in 2013 and thinking you’re some sort of f**king operative,' she noted.

Teigen revealed that she has used a Twitter block chain which enables her to block followers of a certain account in order to protect her family.

‘I have block chained over one million people, ONE MILLION people today and I am still flooded with sick psychopaths,’ she wrote. ‘So please, spare me the “just ignore them, they’re just trolls”.

‘Anyhow I’ll do my best to stop entertaining them. They have definitely been living for this and have zeroed in on ONLY me. Thank u to EVERYONE for helping me, in and out of the dm’s. People I’ve never met have been so, so kind and huge thank you to [journalist] @yashar especially. [sic]’

She also called on Twitter to act on her 'harassment' by trolls.

'I have a family and job and there are too many to target,' she expressed. 'I’ve tried everything. Every lawyer says it will take many years and not change a f***ing thing. Because they will ALWAYS be crazy.

'They have no idea how hard this is to cope with. They won’t stop until I die. I’m convinced of it. And even then they’ll think of another conspiracy. [sic]'
