Hellebuyck Continues To Dominate; Connor and Scheifele Move Up In The Scoring Race As The Jets Defeat The Canadiens 4-1

Connor Hellebuyck turned away 24 shots, and both Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele scored their 29th goals of the season to put them into second place in the goal-scoring race during the Winnipeg Jets' 4-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

Hellebuyck made his 40th start of the season and has now allowed one or fewer goals in 15 of those games. He turned away 24 of the 25 shots he faced. Sam Montembeault made 20 saves on the 23 shots the Jets threw at him.

Juraj Slavkosky opened the scoring for the Canadiens at the midway point of the opening frame but the Jets responded courtesy of Connor.

Scheifele finished off a sweet pass by Gabriel Vilardi to give the Jets a 2-1 lead in the second period.

Connor added his second of the game and 29th of the season with 1.5 seconds remaining in the middle frame. David Gustafsson picked up the primary assist and extended his point streak to four games.

Rasmus Kupari was the recipient of another unselfish play by Nikolaj Ehlers with the opponents goalie pulled and recorded his fourth of the season to ice the game for the Jets.

The Jets are back in action on Thursday when they travel to take on the Boston Bruins for the second of three games on their current road trip.
