Helenius, Ziemer Notch First Goals In AHL, NCAA

2024 first-round pick Konsta Helenius registered his first AHL goal for the Rochester Americans in a 4-2 loss to the Toronto Marlies on Friday. After Anton Wahlberg opened the scoring with a first-period short-handed goal, the 14th overall pick beat Toronto goalie Artur Akhtyamov early in the second period to give the Amerks a 2-0 lead, but the Marlies proceeded to score four straight on Rochester goalie Felix Sandstrom.

2024 third-rounder Brodie Ziemer also registered his first goal, scoring for the University of Minnesota in a 7-5 win over Minnesota-Duluth on Friday. The 18-year-old winger was selected 71st overall in Las Vegas out of the US National Development Program and is in the mix for Team USA’s squad for the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championships in Ottawa this December.
